Lent

For several years now my husband and I have given things up for Lent. We have skipped a few years here and there but we have participated in it. Some of the things I've given up have been, spending money (other than bills of course), chicken, french fries and fast food. It seems like most of the time it has been food. This year I'm giving up Facebook.

Okay I'm not actually giving up Facebook but I am giving up having the Facebook App on my phone. I find myself picking up my phone very often to check in on the happenings on FB. I'm not really sure why, I don't really care that much if Bobby Sue had 2 eggs for breakfast but I suppose I do it out of habit. I will still check in when on my computer but my computer time is pretty limited nowadays.

I've decided that every time I realize I was going to check FB on my phone I am going to thank God for something. Today I've already thanked Him for my daughter, some clothes that someone sent for her and my husband and lunch... and it isn't even 11 yet.

I'm hoping that I will not only lose my habit of constantly reaching for my phone but that I will also use the time I would have been wasting time thanking God and gain a bigger respect for the things, people and situations I have in my life.
