It is March 20th and yet if you drive down the main road we take into town you will pass a house that not only has christmas lights still up... but on. I’m not talking about white wintery lights (which one could argue is okay to have up for a month or two after Christmas), I’m talking candy canes lit up in their yard.
It is officially spring today. I do believe it is safe to turn off and take down your Christmas lights. I LOVE Christmas, I’m all about the celebrations, both religious and not. We live in Indiana so it is not uncommon to see lights up well passed Christmas if it is a particularly icy winter and it is hard to get out to get them down - but most people turn them off after the start of the new year - and I don’t judge anyone who keeps them on for a little longer even. We’ve had a week of 80 degrees already... I think it’s safe to turn them off and take them down.
