Last night after I had gotten into bed and the husband was still in the living room working on some stuff, I suddenly wanted a doughnut. I actually even got out of bed and went in to tell him I wanted one. This is a very odd thing for me because while I like donuts, I generally can take them or leave them, and usually one is plenty.
I woke up this morning still wanting a donut so I decided to make some. I do the cheat way and used fidge biscuits. I was shocked when the hubs told me that he had never had homemade donuts at all, and so I knew he'd love these, and they are super easy :)
What you need:
1 can of fridge biscuits (mine had 10 in it)
Pan - I used a small saucepan since I wasn't making very many and didn't want to use very much oil
Oil - it doesn't really matter what kind and the amount varies based on your pan. You need enough to have about an inch and a half of oil in the pan.
Toppings:
Cinnamon Sugar - I mix 3 parts sugar and 1 part cinnamon in a dish
Glaze - I am really bad at measuring and instead usually just eye it. I use 3 large spoonfuls of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk and a dash of vanilla. Mostly though, use those three things and if it is too thin add more powdered sugar, if it is too thick add a tiny bit more milk. Use less milk than you think you will need though.
That's it. You probably have all of those things in your house at the moment.
First you pop open the biscuits. I HATE THIS PART! I'm not sure why but I hate the moment the can pops open. It scares me every.single.time.
After you've scared yourself you take something like a soda top and press it down on the center of the biscuit creating the hole. Set the holes to the side and use them to make donut holes.

That's it and they are delicious. Make sure you eat them warm :)
Tomorrow I will be reviewing a really fun product called Fish Clips. They are so cute!

Yummy! Now I want donuts! And opening the refrigerated dough scares the crap out of me every time too. I am scared to open it because i know it will scare me. haha
ReplyDeletehaha I always partially open it and then put it on the counter and beat it with something until it pops... I'm too scared to let it pop in my hand :)
