Repurposed Dresser

Unfortunately I don't have a good picture of our dresser by itself before we started work on it. I do have this picture that I posted the other day that does show the dresser in a bit of it's original state as well as the final product:

I looked through various pictures and this is the only one I can find at all of the dresser fully intact. It's a random picture from several years ago :)

I saw a post online several months ago where someone turned a bookshelf into a wardrobe of sorts and I thought it would be perfect to do this with a dresser that had been through one too many moves. I thought it could become a really fun piece for Norah's room.

The first thing I had to do was saw off the drawer rails, which was surprisingly harder than I thought it would be. After that though things got easier. We got a piece of wood cut to size to place on top of the 2nd drawer as a shelf, cut a dowel rod to size, paint it, put fabric on the back wall and the shelf and called it a day - though it did take almost an entire day to complete it. We decided to paint one side of the dresser in chalkboard paint for her.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I think it's bright and fun and fits Norah's personality pretty well.

Here are a few more pictures:
