Happy Birthday Norah
Last year I wrote a letter to Norah on her first birthday. You can find it here. This is something I'd love to keep up with both of the kids for both myself and them to look back on one day... so here goes.
Dear sweet, energetic, fun Norah,
I can't believe it has been two years ago since the first time I held you. I can still remember how warm you felt when they handed you to me, and yet so much has happened since then! Year two has been so incredible full with change. You went from a baby who couldn't even walk yet to a beautiful little girl who is saying more and more with each day.
Just a year ago we had only just learned you would be a big sister! (as in the day before your birthday!) Now you have an almost 4 month old brother that you love very much. You love to hug and kiss on him. You like to clap when he rolls over and "help" him by rolling him back onto his back. I hope you two will be close. It would probably help though if you'd stop poking him in the eye.
You are so busy! You are everywhere and into everything. You are still so curious about everything. You want to know where things and people are. I can't walk away for a second without hearing, "Where Mimi go?" Oh yeah, you decided you'd like to call me Mimi. It's grown on me and now I wonder if your brother will call me that too. He probably will... you will have more of an influence over him that you will probably ever realize.
Norah, you are so happy. You get so excited over little things. You find joy in events that I typically find mundane. You still don't sleep. Ever. You will some day. One day I will be the one waking you up instead of you waking me up. I may even miss it.
You have started to get freckles. They are incredibly cute. Oh your curls. I want those curls forever. You are learning to say please, and it gets you more than you would probably get otherwise. Who can say no to a curly headed 2 year old saying, "Pease?"
I can't wait to see what year 3 holds. You are growing so fast that I know I'll be writing this letter again before I know it. I hope you find even more joy as you experience this next year. I hope I have the patience you need and the energy to keep up :) I love you sweetie.
Love, Mimi
