Pool Ball Pit

Before Norah was even born I heard a fantastic idea to take a pack and play and put some ball pit balls in it as a way to create your own ball pit at home without having the buy the actual ball pit. It seemed like a great idea! So as soon as Norah was sitting up on her own Santa brought her some ball pit balls to do this with. It didn't work out so well.

You see Norah and pack and plays do not mix so well as far as playing goes (and the jury is still out about sleeping in them). She didn't have very much fun with it and it just ended up taking up space in our office.

We got her a tiny blow up pool the other day and while she does enjoy splashing around in it I got an idea to give it a second use as a ball pit on those days when the weather isn't great out.

ohmyword. She loved it! She loved that she could climb in and out of it and play as she wished. She loved throwing the balls out so that she I could pick them up and put them back in. I used a blow up pool that cost $4.97 at walmart and the balls were somewhere in the $10-$15 range. MUCH cheaper than the pack and play route if you don't already have one.

If You Give an 8 Month Old a Ladle...

She'll play for an hour.

After my post yesterday about thinking of new ways to entertain Norah throughout the day I gave Norah some random things from the kitchen so I could get a bit of cleaning done. As I went through the kitchen drawer I passed the can opener and pizza cutter (probably not good choices) and decided on a ladle as well as a metal bowl.

Norah was thrilled with my choices. Though she was thrilled with my choices she wanted to add her own into the mix - the laundry basket. It was pretty comical :)

She played with those 3 items for almost an hour... way longer than any of our other toys keep her attention.
