Fall is Coming!

I love Summer. I love the cookouts, the swimming and the baseball. With that said, I get so excited when Fall comes. This morning we woke up to 50 degrees and I loved grabbing some fuzzy socks and a sweatshirt. Chicago vs. Us

We love Chicago. The husband and I went to college just south of the city and we have had some great days exploring the city, at all times of the year. Christmas? Love it! Summer? Nothing better than laying on a blanket in the grass at Millennium Park downtown. Now we have never gotten lost before, but there have been times we have accidentally taken the longest route possible. We always just called it an adventure.

"Adventures" are less fun when you have a 10 month old and it is a misty 35 degrees. We didn't realize it was going to be so cold! It's almost May for goodness sakes! We had just been about 40ish miles south and it was 30 degrees warmer and not nearly as windy. So here we are with Norah and her stroller making our way from Michigan Ave. to Navy Pier. Half way there we realize it was a terrible idea and once we got there we decided abort the Navy Pier plan - which meant we were hiking our way back the other way... all the while having a grumpy child who was getting annoyed with having to be bundled up. After trucking Norah, the stroller, our overnight bags (3 of them) and ourselves over 3 miles we found ourselves in a very busy and loud cafe and I'm sure we got plenty of interesting looks.

We're pretty cool. I'm not so sure Norah agrees :)

We still love Chicago, but that we have a kid I think we have to learn to stick with a plan.

We woke up this morning to a "feels like" temp of -4.

That is ridiculous. I know it could be colder though, I remember in college checking the weather before heading out for class and it said it felt like -27, I'm not ready for that - I'm hoping we avoid that this winter. I need to adjust to mid-west winters slowly.

I wish it would snow a lot if it is this cold though, I want to take Norah on a sled :)

I want to go outside!

In Florida loved getting to go lay at the beach in February if we wanted or walking at Disney's Boardwalk Resort in November. May-September was plenty hot but at least you COULD go outside if you wanted. I hate how when it's cold (too cold to have the baby out for more than a few moments) you can't be outside. This is my biggest cause of being homesick for Florida. I complain about it often... I know I do. I very much miss Florida. I wouldn't trade being close to family for it, but I miss it a lot.

I bring this up because today is so pretty. I look at our window and it makes me want to go outside and take pictures - then I stepped outside and realized I was nuts. Sometimes it is so deceiving when it is sunny in the winter.

We had to settle for taking some pictures inside today. She's been pretty happy today considering we kept her out pretty late last night going to the basketball game :)
