Cute Candy Corn Craft

Norah had a ton of fun making this super simple fall craft! Although she won't call it candy corn... she keeps calling it a rocket ship haha!

This was really easy and fun for us to do. While she is VERY into cutting (snipping as she likes to call it) I did the cutting this time ;) Basically I simply drew a candy corn shape (lots of drawing and erasing and more drawing and erasing to get it to a shape I liked) onto the yellow. After that I used it as a guide to cut the orange and white and we simply used a glue stick to glue the 3 pieces together, glued some eyes on as well as a pipe cleaner for the mouth, then glued it to black paper.

Easy and fairly mess free fall craft :)

Skipping Fall?

I like Fall. There are only a few things I missed about Indiana when we lived in Florida but Fall was one of them. I love the changing leaves (and then jumping in them), picking pumpkins, eating lots of apples, the crisp air and all of the fall smells.

I fear we might skip Fall this year. Tonight our low is 30 degrees already and it's only early October.

Do you like Fall? What's your favorite things about it? Is it Fall where you live?

Fall is Coming!

I love Summer. I love the cookouts, the swimming and the baseball. With that said, I get so excited when Fall comes. This morning we woke up to 50 degrees and I loved grabbing some fuzzy socks and a sweatshirt. I put a pumpkin scent in my Scentsy and now I'm dreaming of carving pumpkins, corn mazes and falling leaves.
What kick starts fall for you?

First Knot

There is a green container holding some of Norah's newborn clothes sitting in our kitchen. It is sitting there because last week I was looking for something in it and it hasn't been put back yet. I may or may not have asked the husband to do it about 12 times before he left, but that's beside the point ;) I'm not able to get it back in the garage where it goes.

This afternoon I wasn't paying as much attention to what Norah was doing as I should have and I heard her fall... right on our kitchen tiles. She had been climbing on top of it apparently and somehow fell off of it. It isn't that tall of a box, but she fell hard enough she got a knot :( I feel awful! She's a trooper though and only cried long enough for me to give her some snuggles... and an animal cracker.

Have your kids gotten some bumps and bruises when you weren't paying attention?

A Fall at 6500 Feet

Last Thursday we drove up to the top of the tallest mountain in the Smoky's. Unfortunately when we got up there it was too foggy to see anything, not only that but it was windy up there too. We got out of the Jeep and Matt got Norah out of the car seat and I handed him a blanket to wrap around her. Norah doesn't like when we hold her and wrap her up and so she squirmed and arched her back. At the same moment that she arched her back the wind blew the blanket and Matt was trying to keep it from blowing away and she fell.

She fell head first on the pavement.

The knot
She started crying and I tried to calm her down while Matt walked away to calm himself down. If you remember back to my post about how I accidentally let Norah roll off the couch you remember how I had that same sick feeling knowing that allowed Norah to feel pain - and also the worry of if she'd be okay of course. It was a complete accident on Matt's part of course and anyone that has held a 9 month old knows they can make sudden movements. Even still, it sucks knowing that something like that happened on your watch.

She ended up with a cut on her finger and a knot on her precious little head but not a concussion. It certainly could have been worse if my husband hadn't reacted quick enough to stop her fall before she fell completely. She could have broken something or hit her head harder which could have been bad.

I'm very thankful that God kept Norah safe and that all she had was a bump on the head. I'm also thankful that I have a husband that cares so much about our daughter that it really bothered him that he let her fall. I know he loves her very much.

That said... for the rest of vacation when he was holding her anywhere near the edge of the balcony at the cabin we asked him to not stand so close to the edge :) Thankfully he knows we meant it lightheartedly.
